So i looked at the 2 tunes.... has anyone tried to flash the 5 speed flash to an auto after copying all the auto tables over??... because there are differences between the 2.

I'm not sure If I understand what your sayign exactly. Are you talking about taking a 5 speed SD tune and flashing it to a auto non SD car? I do know looking at my 5 speed tune it still shows the auto stuff for the tranny, but I assume it would not run it.

Thats what im going to try.... Copying all the auto tables to a 5 speed tune and see if the car will drive correctly after i flash it with said 5 speed tune.
would you be able to use the 02 scan in a pre 99 or would we need to copy the auto files to the 5 speed tables with the speed density tune and then write that back onto the ecm?

Im trying to flash the 97 SD manual trans tune into an Auto... The first step is to find out if a manual trans tune with changes to the auto trans tables will run an auto trans.

What changes are you making?

If you click on the Trans button in the VCM editor anything that is different when i compare them is getting copied over. I just hope HPT didnt leave anything out that is needed to make the trans function.
Hmmm, listening.

I've got a 98 z24 auto and have been reading all about needing a speed density file to properly tune my car... any progress on using the manual file in an automatic??
If I don't get the SD file and turbo my car and use hpt to try to tune it anyway, will I be able to do it?? (I'm just starting out at 3-4 PSI to get used to tuning first).
Thanks for the help,
Jeremy
I'm not sure if I might get something to contribute to the original question in this thread, but I've just had to contact HPT support over my '97 Cavy 2.2 because I can't work with the VCM file produced. They tell me I've got a calibration they've never seen before, and they'll send me an update once their engineer has mapped it. Might be interesting to see what I end up with.

Would a 97 SD tune work on a 2200?
Just curious, as it would be easier to tune.
5SPD BTW.
i dont see why not. the tables are the same from what i have seen and read between the 2200/2.2 and 2.4Ls, so that should mean an SD tune should work just as well on a 2.2 as a 2.4... problem is that the SD tune was only ever discovered on the 2.4L, so the base numbers for the 2200 SD tune would probably be your own creation.

^^I read that topic a LONG time ago, and It didnt click that they were the same.
Thanks for pointing that out. I know Ill need a custom tune for the motor, but if I can get the file to start with, then thats better for me, a newb when it comes to tuning. Just waiting on my stimulous check, now its time to start reading
.
Thanks!
Does anyone have the 97 Speed Density tune that I can have?? I'd really like to play with it and see if I can get it to work on my 98 z24.
My e-mail is jds723@hotmail.com if you just want to shoot it there....

Could you send it to me too please. I now own his old sunfire with the speed density PCM so I'd like to see the actual tune he put on it.
