wonder if my 02 hood will still latch down then? i mean I dont see why not. The only thing I see diffrent is the lever. I guess ill find out the hard. If it dont work im just going to get hood pins an call it a day. Not gay ones from autozone either. ill get the ones that are on skwirl car.

I think I got my latch for like $8 from the yard, plus the car I pulled it from had the stock fogs (95-99 style) and was able to talk them down to $10 for the pair.

ok i just read this whole thread and just to double check... im converting form an 03 to 00-02 front end
and with the latch and striker deal i just need the latch from a 95-02 for it and i dont have to reposition it at all?
also with the corners i can just fab up one to hold it up in the back?

Hello, i've read all the post (10 pages), and i still having many cuestions,i want to swap my 01 cavalier to 03+cavalier front end, please help me with this:
1. I can see in the manta pics the only difference beetwen the latches is the lever (like perry shonkwiler says), considering the dimensions by the bolts place.
2. I really need the brackets and the foam ting inside the bumper to hold on the bumper (piece no. 1 and 12 in the first link)???
3. to keep the headlight in place i need more than the 2 uper bolts thats fits in the frame???

i'll g to the junk today and take some measurements at the 2 diferents latches and lets you know the difference, i do some research and looks the 95-05 sunfires have the same latch that the 03+ cavaliers.

Look at this 03+cavalier front diagram
, this Cavalier frame sheet metal and the 00-02 (95-02 latch) Cavalier 00-02 frame sheet metal, If you click in the part # it will display the list of the part compatibilities.
I hope this information can help someone in the future

Thank's inadvance for you time & help

the foam piece attaches to bumper and has little by a little L brackets. these lbrackets bolt to the bumper rebar and keep the middle of the bumper from sagging or just moviing in general by the grille.

the headlight on 03 only bolts in using the 2 bolts on the upper core support and then the back of the headlight has a little spring clip that goes through a square hole in the core support to hold the bottom in

just wanted to say thanks for having this thread and keeping it current

i'm about to attempt converting a 97 Z24 kit & trunk with spoiler .. and 02 cav headlight/corner lights over to a 96 sunfire 4dr

i thought that the bumper covers, side skirts, trunk, hood and fenders would all be pretty straight forward and thought i'd save a bunch of wiring headaches by using a pair of 02 headlight assemblies so i can use the 9007 bulbs.

seems that I didn't look close enough.... i happen to see an 02 cav today and realize that the 97 Z front bumper cover may need trimmed to accomodate the 02 headlights (if they'll fit at all). looks like the newer lights sit down farther into the bumper cover... oops. never noticed before.

anyone know anything about this?

thanks

So I don't have to replace the hood? I'm going from a 2000 Z24 to an 03+

ok so, i have a 95 cav base, and i did a front end swap with a 97 z24 bumper using a 99 wiring harness. now, it has DRL's, but.. i have no headlights yet, the fog lights work. the wiring in the 95 headlight circuit diagram is different from the 99's. so how do i go about getting the DRL's, fog lights, and headlights (lo beams & hi beams) to work? any one know?
