Losing my mind, need help here. Took the Pioneer DEH-P8MP HU out of my brothers car (Pontiac GP) since we are junking it. the unit worked flawlessly in it ( and I am the one who installed it). I install it in my 1996 cavalier with his harness and everything. Grounds and voltage has been verified 3x. The volume is extremely low on the tuner or CD. I need to put it at number 50 and I BARELY hear the music. I double checked wiring and played with the EQ. I also tried diff speakers. no good. Any idea's?? I am getting voltage from the fac harness out of the dash. I also grounded the wire and made sure it is a good grd. I am lost here! help!

thanks!

BTW, no amp is being used, this is a low budget install. Rear speakers are 6x9 Pioneer and the front is 4x10 lanzars

Either your speakers require a lot more wattage or your wiring is either being shorted to the speakers or you have them wire wrong. Or the head unit is messed up. A lot of headunits have a fail safe to prevent damage by limiting the volume or turning the sound off completlyb until they are allowed to cool or be turned on an off again.
