hey guys k heres my problem just ebar with me, k i have 2 dual 4 ohm subs, i wanna wire at 2 ohms, but see i i hook positive to negatiev on both subs and than both the positives to the postive ont he amp, both negatives to the negative to the amp, i get 4 ohms, and if wire positive to positive to positive, and negative to negative to negative i get 1 ohm load, so is there a way to wire up a 2 ohm load, im just leaving school so ill check when i get home

There is a way to wire it up, called Series-Parallel wiring. I think it'll give you 2 ohms. I'll see if I can find a diagram, unless someone beats me to it.

My bad. I was wrong. You were already using S/P wiring in your first example, to get to 4 ohms. And the only other way would be the 1 ohm load.

http://lalena.com/audio/faq/wiring/ had the diagrams I was looking at.

I'm going to assume that your amp isn't capable of sustaining a 1 ohm load? My advice would be to either get a second amp of the same kind, and run each sub from each amp, at a 2 ohm load at each sub, or replace your amp with a 1 ohm stable amp. About all I can think of, sorry!

You can't plug them at 2 ohms. Only at 1, 4 and 16 ohms.

one speaker per channel at 2 ohms will do the deal

For Future Reference, Ohms Law is aka speaker law:

Series:
R1+R2+R3+Rn+.....= Rt (total Resistance)

Para:
for two speakers: (R1XR2)/R1+R2)= Rt

or for more then one in parallel:
1/((1/R1)+(1/R2)+(1/R3)+(1/Rn)+....) = Rt
_____________________________________________
Example for your speakers @ 4 Ohms wired in parallel (how you had it)

(4X4) / (4+4)=2 Ohms

if you were to do series it would be
4+4 = 8 Ohms

If you do a combo, One as series and one as parallel it would be wired as such:
Spkr 1 would be pos to pos and be neg to neg then for neg to pos of spkr 2 then form spkr 2 neg to spkr 2 pos then neg to pos of spkr1, and you would end up with something like 10 Ohms AWESOME and Useless

Either way, what ever .....what ever you do is up to you go with the last plan if it's got two channels and save yourself the hassle of screwing something up
