When I was having battery drain problems the mechanic had disconnected the power wire from my amp to the positive terminal on my battery.
Since I am thinking of hooking everything up again to see if I still have issues, I need to hook that thing back up.
Heres the problem. I dont like @!#$ with electricity when I dont know exactly what I am doing. I know that lots of the time when connecting - disconnecting battery terminals, I get sparks and @!#$. I really really hate that. So, heres the Q:
Whats the sequence to be safe? Heres my assumption - let me know if I am wrong:
Leave negative terminal plugged in.
Disconnect positive terminal.
Place the loop end of the amp power wire against positive battery terminal and then shove the positive battery wire back through that hole into the battery and tighten.
Am I donna cause a lot of sparks or other problems by doing this? Let me know. Thanks!

thats not the smartest way and yes you will get sparks.. trust me.. discopnnect the negative terminal on the bat.. then disconnect the positive.. do whatever you are going to do to the amp, and when you reconnect it, connect the positive side first.. then connect the negative side to the bat.. you might catch a spark but believe me it wont be nearly as big or as many.. might be 1 single one looking like a static shock... i had to find out the hard way many times until someone told me that is how you are supposed to reconnect things

also, turn off your stereo and anything else inside your car before reconnecting to reduce the sparks
I was recommended to actually remove the positive first, to eliminate the possibility of a wrench hitting a grounded point while removing it and potentially shorting.

You're right....now that I'm awake again...if the ground is no longer hooked to the battery, the circuit can't complete back to the battery. Some call me every night at 11, and remind me to go to bed before PWTF (posting without thinking first). My bad. Damn, two f ups in one night posting. I suck. lol
