Will factory CD player work in older car?

I have my factory CD player from my 97 Cavalier and was wondering if it will work in my 90 Cavalier as well? Like I know I need the theft lock code but wasn't sure if it would even work. Does anyone know?

You would have to splice the harnesses together (once you figure out the wiring) so that it would work. Mounting might need the be fabbed together, and then I don't know what the Theftlock would entail. In theory, I guess all you would need is the code for it. But as for whether or not it needs more than just the code, I'm not too sure. They're both a DIN and a half size radio, but I almost think the 97 radio has a little curve on the corners, and the 90 is squared off. I'd do a test fit into your 90 before even starting anything else on it, and make sure it'll fit like you want it to.

You can buy a factory harness if you want, Metra and Scosche sell them, as do some other places (Like Canadian Tire has their own cheapo brand, so does Walmart).

It will look like the factory 95-99 plug... and you wire it into the factory wiring on the 90 Cavalier, so it just plugs in. That way you don't have to cut the harness in your 97.

or get one from a wrecker
