how would i go about installing a backup battery to my alarm.... i know its not as simple as just running a wire from a battery in your trunk to the alarm...because it would die...it needs charged from an alternator or something...

depending on what kind of alarm you have manufacturers will have a backup alarm for it, contact the manufacturer of your alarm and see if its available.

theres a piece you hook up in line from your alternator to split off power to both batterys while not letting yoru second battery draw from you first and vice versa. not sure what its called . i'm sure wysiwyg knows, he has a battery in his trunk.

your thinking of an isolater heretic wich is used if your running two batteries. joe smith is talking about a battery backup for his alarm in the case of a theif cutting his power wire, the alarm will continue to go off.
