If you had $2000
Wednesday, March 02, 2005 8:07 PM
Alright basically I'm looking forward to build a new system and I have a budget of $2000. I'm posting to see basically how you would spend the $2000 to build a SPL system. Therefore, I can get a good idea of what different ways people would go to tackle this problem. Use the $2000 to buy speakers, subs, amps and such but exclude the wiring and head unit. Thanks for any responses, they will help me out.

i suggest paying me 2000 to do it for you. lol

if it was me.. i would get 2 X18" MA AUDIO subs (5000RMS each) then get at least 4 amps and build a custom fiberglass trunk enclosure, and replace the speakers.

a pair of 18's in a j-body? never seen that before.... dunno if its possible to get enough volume from a box in a j for a pair of 18's.... and running 10 000w RMS would require a HO alt and some other serious electical work, and would certainly put him over the $2000 mark. if you're lookin for big SPL, look into stuff like the RE XXX subs, Brahmas, DD, maybe a JL 13w7, kicker SoloX, or even some RF stuff.... and expect to pay as much, or more for the amp than you did for the subs.

Is this going in the trunk or are you doing a wall? Are you paying someone to do it? Do you want nothing but SPL? Does that $2000 include electrical upgrades? I have ideas, I just need some more information.

It would be in the trunk and mainly be for spl. Though, I could go SQL also. Don't worry about the electrical upgrades, just subs, amps and speakers. .

XXX baby...sure it's the route a lot of people on here have gone...but damn it's just feels so good. It's a good product and will give you your SPL and SQ..think about it. Adire is also a great way to go. I would stay away from JL...it will rock your wallet too much since they are so overfrigginpriced

RE XXXs in a Powered4Sound Double Shot box should do nicely.
