Alarm / Trunk Question
Wednesday, March 23, 2005 2:20 PM
i'm having problems with connecting the wire for the trunk to pop open with my alarm. the alarm is an a-88 from the past gp. i installed a trunk popper a while ago and now i decided to connect everything together. i picked up a relay and connected it as follows...85-alarm, 86 87- 12v, 30 solenoid.

Is this correct? i was following an old post i read but could not get it to work accordingly. i went ahead and tried it with a 30 amp fuse attached and still got nothing.

thanks in advance.

Is the alarm giving a negative or positive pulse on the trunk output?
...if it is positive output, just put pin 86 to ground.
Are you sure that you are using the right wire out of the alarm?
Did you fuse it, is the fuse blown?
Do you know if the solenoid is good...is it properly grounded?

lots of "if's" ....check all above and post back
later!

If at first you don't succeed, destroy all evidence you tried!

the alarm trunk output is +
should it be wired as follows then...

85-alarm output
86-ground
87-12 volt
30-solenoid

is that correct?
i'll give it a shot in the morning. i kind of thought that it had to be grounded but wasn't sure. thanks for the help.
