Hello, my name is Mike, and I recently returned from Iraq. I added an nice stereo to my J as a gift to myself, and I then found myself with a whiny alternator. I have found a reputable supplier of high output alternators for Cavalier and Sunfires, both 2.2 and 2.4. I am about to order mine, and I was curious to see if anyone else was in the market for a higher output alternator. Specifications are 160A max, and 70-80A at idle. My thought was that if enough of us were looking to purchase, maybe we could get a better price on them.

So far it is looking maybe $149, trying to work on that. As far as higher output windings are concerned, I will ask tomorrow. Well today, but I will try to find out. I am tired of Civics getting all the aftermarket support.

just about anyone should be able to make one up. check out excessive amperage maybe. I haven't looked for one yet but i need to get me one soon too, lol

I haven't found anyone who currently makes ANY HO alt for the Eco(besides someone customizing it etc..) All the other engine's are covered though.. Boooo! LOL Not saying it'd be any different than the other engine's, but they're just not available yet...

I have more info for the alternators. the company name is Motor City. You can find them on ebay, or check the link I have to the alternator they currently have on ebay.

They are willing to do group discounts, and the alternators come with a one year warranty. They are located in Eastpointe, Michigan. Their website is motorcityreman@comcast.net The man I am dealing with is Sam Navetta.
They make their high output alternators by replacing parts wity higher output equipment. Each one is fully tested before it is shipped.
I would like to start a list of who is interested, and which application you are looking for. They have the alternators listed on ebay for $160, how many people respond will dictate what discount I can get.

I would be curious about this item. I am actually in the process now of working with my audio guy. He has someone on the side that builds externally rectified alternators and is preparing to do one for my car including powder coating and all but its $400. I dont know the power output as of yet he is pulling specs off what I currently have the needs for in draw and what he can get to fit dimensionally. I'll keep an eye on this one for sure.
Delco Remy perhaps? cuz I think they only make the casings...
not sure it just says DELCO im guessin ac delco but im not sure, check out the listing and see what you think, theres a lifetime warrantee if you buy it now, not sure how that will work if you all get a group purchase though, later

I bought mine from the same company off ebay... very fast shipping and packaged professionally. The 160 amp alternator makes a supercharger type whine after 3500 rpm tho when your punching it... I like the sound....
Oh and I am in Canada...

yeah ecessive amperage doesnt have it cuz its an "import". but he said if i take pics of it and send them to him he'll see what he can make or fit on to the stock location....
Now that some people have come out with experience with them, I think it is safe to start a group purchase on this item. I will be looking into getting that set up today. If anyone has any qurstions or concerns, please email me at USMC3782@aol.com.
