Sunfire Vert. returns with a Turbo Vengeance...
Tuesday, August 17, 2010 6:45 PM
I realized I've been remiss in photo updates of the Vert. so here we go...

I got tired of fighting to tune 4 huge injectors (Moran 160lb & Injector Dynamics ID2000's) to run E-85 and still be streetable at low load/cruise. So I decided to go Old School and run 8 Staged injectors... 4 55lb. for start up low load and cruise. 114lb.er's for boost...

Went to the local Aircraft Salvage and picked up some 321 Stainless 3/4" tubing, solid stainless and aluminum round stock, and some stainless -an fittings.

Got to work and after some cutting, machining, grinding, tig welding, nasty words, and some polishing...

I present for your commentary and critique... 417hp and 339tq of streetable funage.

Final numbers on the DynoDynamics... (Spun the tires and still made 417whp @ 20lbs)

Took out the Cyberdyne gauges and went with Autometer...

The Exterior for those who don't know the car...

Just realized I left the Carbon Fiber fuse box cover at the dyno shop .

Now that's how you do it... god damn.

Id love to see a vert fly by me like I was standing still lol.

"funage" is an understatment. Sploogage would be suitable.

great job

hahahahaha 417whp on a dyno dynamics with a mere 20 psi. yep, the LD9 is a dead motor like 'they' say. /sarcasm

always happy to see updates on this beast. hands down one of the absolute best j-bodies ever built, no doubt about it. seeing this thing in person is the only thing that does it justice.

even happier to see that you're still plugging away at this thing even after all these years, just goes to show that excellence can be made better and better. keep up the great work, gary!

ps, the ditch in front of you're shop sucks

I'm going to have to go with a bigger turbo if I'm going to make more power, that 3076 is out of breath and begging for mercy. After about 3 good pulls it starts getting heat soaked and dropping 10-15 horsepower...

God damn, thats a sexy engine bay. Great numbers, thats nuts! The exterior is a bit much for my taste, but with horsepower like that, who cares!

Ya,the dual wing setup is coming off soon to make room for a Carbon Fiber Tibby wing with a built-in 3rd brake light. Should clean it up a little bit.

My car may run 18s, but I can do your taxes in 10 seconds flat.
JBO lube - they would never have enough in stock and we'd never see RodimusPrime again

so you actually tried ID2000 injectors and had trouble with them? Thats no good. Good to see it up and running, whats the plan for a new turbo size, I am really interested in a Precision 6262 billet that my buddy ran on his prelude, he just stepped it up to a 6765 so i may consider picking it up.

you may want to look into that Precision 6262, some try to compare it to a 35r but say the 6262 is leagues beyond in how much better it is.
